Nikon Coolpix AW100

Buy the Nikon AW100 from Amazon for £237.59

Nikon Coolpix AW100First up on this week's Something for the Weekend we have the Nikon Coolpix AW100.  The AW100 is rugged compact designed to stick two figures up at the elements. Waterproof to 10 metres, shockproof to a height of £1.5m and freezeproof down to -10 deg celsius it is kitted out to brave most conditions that nature can throw at it.

As well as resisting a punch, the AW100 also packs one, or at least holds its own as a camera.  Resolution-wise it features 16 megapixel, it has 5 times optical zoom and will also capture 1080 pixel high-definition video.  It also packs a few tricks including slow motion video capture, a panarama mode and GPS to track your photos across the globe.

All in all the Nikon Coolpix AW100 is an ideal piece of kit for the outdoorsy types amongst us, or indeed the slightly clumsy.

ASUS EeePad Transformer Prime Tablet PC

Buy ASUS Transformer Prime from Currys for £499.99

ASUS Eeepad Transformer PrimeLucy was particularly excited about the next gadget on this week's show, and this excitement is reflected in the wider gadget industry.  This "shape-shifting" netbook has a 10.1 inch LCD touchscreen that detatches to act as a stand-alone tablet computer.

Lucy was also quite excited about the chip that the Transformer Prime uses. The NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad core processor, found on the Transfomer Prime, is about five times faster than the more common dual-core processor found on other nextbooks and tablets.  It runs on the Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) operating system and features an internal memory of 32GB, with enough space for a host of apps and plenty left over for your music, pictures and video.  In addition to this you get SD cameras front and back and a mini HDMI video interface.

Black & Decker Orb-it™ Bagless Hand-held Vacuum Cleaner

Buy Black & Decker Orb-it™ from Currys for £29.99

The final some thing for this weekend was the Orb-it™ from Black & Decker.  This bagless hand-held vacuum cleaner is ideal for quick clean ups around the home and car.  It is stylish, compact and lightweight, and comes with a soft brush and a crevice tool for thise tricky pick-ups.  The other accessory being its 360 degree charging base.  The transparent collector tells you when it needs emptying and the blue indicator lights in the base tell you when it is charged.

A handy little gadget if ever there was one.  Especially if you spills a bit, like me.
